Orllie. La viva imagen del rey de la Patagonia

En el año 1860, en el extremo más austral de América, un procurador francés proclamó la creación del Reino de la Araucanía y la Patagonia ante una colorida asamblea de aborígenes, proclamándose rey con el nombre de Orllie I.

La obra recrea la aventurera vida de su pintoresco protagonista a partir de la transcripción de testimonios apócrifos de personajes tan novelescos como él. Entre otros, más o menos imaginarios, Julio Verne, Alejandro Dumas, Fernando de Lesseps, Charles Chaplin y los hermanos Lumière, desbordan los límites que separan ficción de realidad, para darse cita, todos juntos, en las páginas de este libro.

Ilustrado a modo de las ediciones francesas de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, utiliza un lenguaje cargado de eufemismos donde el humor siempre está presente y describe, con rasgos irónicos, el espíritu de las grandes empresas que caracterizaron este período histórico

On the year 1860, on the most austral extreme of America, a french attorney proclaimed the creation of the Kingdom of the Araucanía and the Patagonia in front of a colourfull assembly of natives proclaiming himself as their king with the name of Orllie I.

The story recreates the adventurous life of its picturesque protagonist starting from the transcription of the apocryphal testimonies of characters as novelelistics as him. Among others, more or less imaginary, Julio Verne, Alejandro Dumas, Fernando de Lesseps, Charles Chaplin and brothers Lumière, surpassing the limits which part fiction from reality to meet in the same date all together in this book´s pages.

It is illustrated the way french editions of second half of XIX century were printed and uses a language loaded with euphemisms where humour is always present and describes with ironic strokes the spirit of the great enterprises wich characterized that historical period.
